If we prepared your 2025 tax return and you receive correspondence from the IRS, you can get assistance from Tax-Aide volunteers by calling 888-227-7669 or by sending an email to taxaide@aarp.org with your name, state, zip code, daytime phone number, the name and address of the site where your return was prepared and a brief description of the issue. Your inquiry will be routed to local volunteers who will contact you directly and try to help you understand the notice and correct your return as necessary.
Tax-Aide will begin providing its free tax preparation services for tax year 2025 starting February 2, 2026. This program is open to taxpayers of all ages. AARP membership is not required. Tax-Aide services will be available at the following locations and days through April 15, 2026:
- Headquarters Library – Monday; 10:30am to 2:30pm
- Millhopper Library – Monday and Thursday; 10:30am to 2:30pm
- Tower Road Library – Tuesday and Thursday; 10:30am to 2:30pm
- Alachua County Senior Recreation Ctr- Wednesday; 9:30am to 1:30pm
- Library Partnership – Wednesday; 10:30am to 2:30pm
- Oak Hammock at UF – Monday: 10:00am to 2:00pm
All weekday sites are by appointment; walk-ins will be accepted as time permits. Appointments may be made online or visit a Tax-Aide site in person only during Tax-Aide hours.
Saturday tax preparation (walk-ins welcome) will be available at the following dates and sites:
- Headquarters Library – 2/14 and 4/4: 10:30am – 2:30pm
- Tower Road Branch Library – 3/21 and 4/11: 10:30am – 2:30pm
- Millhopper Library – 2/28 and 3/28: 10:30am – 2:30pm
All walk-in service is first-come, first-served. All walk-in’s must arrive no later than one hour before closing and will be seen only as time permits.
The following AARP Tax-Aide tax preparation services will be available:
In Person: At the appointment the taxpayer(s) will be remain on-site and retain their tax documents during interview, tax preparation, quality review and taxpayer review. At the end of the appointment the tax return will be ready for e-file and taxpayer will receive a copy of their return. This is the traditional pre-pandemic Tax-Aide model.
Virtual (No Site Visit): Tax preparation is done virtually through a series of two or more virtual Meetings. Clients must have internet access with an email address, computer with camera and a printer; they must be able to scan tax documents into a secure website. Intake Interviews are conducted virtually on Tuesdays, by appointment, after you complete and submit the Virtual Site Service Request Form. AARP Tax-Aide Volunteers in the Alachua County area provide free and confidential income tax preparation to low and moderate income individuals, with special attention to senior citizens, beginning late January through April 15th of each year.
